Antalya airport (AYT) sits 195 km east of Kaş along the dramatic D400 coastal road. The drive takes 3 to 3.5 hours, and how you do it shapes the first hours of your trip. Here's every option, with honest pricing and a couple of local tips.
Distance, time and the scenic D400

From AYT to central Kaş is roughly 195 km, almost all of it on the D400 coastal highway. In light traffic the drive is 3 hours; in summer afternoons or after rain, count 3.5. The first 90 minutes pass Antalya's western suburbs and the Olympos / Çıralı turn off. After Finike the road opens onto cliffside views with the Lycian coast unrolling south. The final hour, from Demre onward, is the most beautiful stretch — keep a camera ready.
Private transfers: the comfortable default
A private transfer is the most popular option for a reason: a driver greets you at arrivals with a name sign, helps with bags and takes you door to door. Expect €140 to €190 for up to 4 people in a sedan, €170 to €230 for up to 7 in a minivan, and €280 to €340 for groups of 8 to 14 in a small bus. Most operators include child seats free on request and one free brief stop for snacks or photos. Book at least 24 hours ahead in summer and confirm your flight number so they track delays.
Bus + airport shuttle: the budget route

The cheapest legitimate option is the airport shuttle to Antalya Otogar (bus station) on the city's western edge, then a long distance coach to Kaş. Havaş or the airport tram (Antray) reach the Otogar in about 45 minutes for 50 ‑ 100 TL. From there, Bati Antalya, Pamukkale and Kamil Koç run multiple coaches a day to Kaş, taking 4 ‑ 4.5 hours for 400 ‑ 550 TL per person. Total budget for two people including taxis at each end: under €60. Bring snacks; the only stop is a quick rest break.
Self drive: rentals, the route and rest stops
Car rental at AYT is straightforward; expect €25 to €55 per day in season for a compact and an extra €8 ‑ €15 for collision insurance. Take the airport exit, follow signs for Antalya Çevre Yolu (ring road) west, then D400 toward Kemer / Kumluca / Kaş. Useful stops: a coffee at Antalya's Konyaaltı beach, Olympos / Çıralı for a swim if you have time, and the roadside börek and gözleme stands near Kumluca for an honest lunch. Fill up in Kumluca or Demre — Kaş's prices are the same but pumps close earlier. Driving after dark on D400 is doable but slower; plan to finish in daylight.
Late arrivals, family transfers and groups

If your flight lands after 22:00, take a private transfer. Buses are sparser at night and the D400 is harder solo. For families, a private driver with a confirmed child seat saves real stress. Groups of 8 or more typically use a minibus transfer and split the cost; per head it's only marginally more than the bus. If you're a group of two or three on a budget, the bus route is still very doable in daylight — just allow extra time for the connection at Antalya bus station.
